In this feature, Aesthetics & Skincare Expert and Founder of Intrigue Cosmetic Clinic, Amish Patel shares his tips and advice for summer skincare and maintenance as temperatures rise.
Go Make-Up Free
Summer is the ideal time to go make-up free. The combination of heat and make-up can make your skin sweat which can mean your base foundation starts to melt, sits on top of your skin and can lead to blocked pores and pimple outbreaks. Allow your skin to breathe as much as possible during the summer. Keep your make-up to the minimum and always wear a high sun factor and wear a hat when outside. iS Clinical do a fabulous tinted SPF Sun Cream, Extreme Protect SPF 40, which comes in three different variations, including bronze, so that you can protect your skin from harmful sun rays. However, even the palest skin can still look sunkissed without the sun damage.
Fake It
Just as tinted moisturisers give a hint of a summer glow, so do all the fantastic fake tans on the market. My advice is to choose a fake tan free from parabens, harsh ingredients and artificial fragrances. You can even create faux freckles on your face with a small thin brush across the bridge of your nose. That post foreign holiday glow can still be achieved even if you plan a staycation here in the UK with a professional facial. At our clinic, our ‘Fire & Ice’ facial soothes, nourishes and hydrates the skin, so it’s ideal for mild resurfacing and treating fine lines. Traditionally clients will often book in their ‘tweakments’ a few weeks before their holidays, so they look even more refreshed on returning home. This summer has been no different, with many clients booking in for their anti-wrinkle and filler treatments ahead of long weekends away, weddings and family get-togethers so they can look and feel fantastic. Small tweakments done well, can rejuvenate and refresh the face and emulate that wonderful post holiday look.
Elevate Your Skincare
Elevating your skincare routine to incorporate professional-grade skincare products is always going to benefit your skin. Professional-grade skincare products target the skin at a much deeper cellular level than most high street brands. Whilst these may be more expensive, it is an investment, and you only need to use a little each time to see significant results. We create bespoke skincare routines for our clients, and summer is the perfect time to review your skincare routine and products. A change in products can often cause the skin to react as it adjusts to the new ingredients, and so a make-up free summer is precisely what it needs.
