Any experienced cosmetic surgeon will tell you that every patient is different – and they mean it. No two individuals experience a procedure in the same way. From consultation, to surgery, every journey is unique, culminating in a newfound confidence that not only enhances their life, but the lives of everyone around them. I see this most prominently with breast procedures; some of our most popular services at Chelsea Cosmetics. While everyone has a different reason for undertaking breast surgery, patients almost always become emotional once seeing the results; it’s a new sense of radiance they haven’t felt in a long time.
Surprisingly, many people view cosmetic breast surgery through a narrow lens, not understanding the scope of treatments offered for anyone looking to alter their breast appearance. Whether you want to go bigger, smaller or perkier, we can offer you a range of choices to ensure you walk out of our clinic exactly how you envisioned. Our three key procedures include breast augmentation, breast liposuction, and fat concentrate transplant. So what’s the difference?
Breast Augmentation
The most well known out of the breast procedures, breast augmentation (more commonly known as implants) involves a procedure of inserting synthetic implants into the breasts to enhance their proportion and contours, making them look larger. Implant surgery can be undertaken for various reasons, including to lift droopy bust lines, enhance smaller breasts, or restore lost volume after weight loss or pregnancy.
Patients can choose exactly the size and look they are hoping to achieve, but often I will advise what I believe to be the most appropriate size after your consultation. Together, we go through exactly how your surgery will be undertaken, ensuring you leave with minimal side effects and high confidence levels.
Breast Liposuction
Every breast is different, and whilst some women hardly develop any tissue, others can experience what we call Gigantomastia, a condition which causes excessive growth of the breasts. Often, large breasts can be extremely physically painful, with symptoms including posture problems, skin fold infections, back and breast pain, and possibly more. In most cases, Gigantomastia is associated with excess skin, nipple ptosis (sagging of the breast), which is why the best treatment in these cases is a liposuction breast reduction and lift.
Breast liposuction is a great alternative for anyone hesitant to go through breast reduction surgery, or in cases associated with mild excess skin and moderate to severe ptosis. It can be done either under a local or general anaesthetic. It’s important to always be aware of the risks of liposuction procedures (visit our website for more info), but always remember we have extensive experience and will do our very best to make you feel safe.
Fat Concentrate Transplant
Hesitant about getting implants? Fat concentrate transplant is a great alternative, which rather than inserting a synthetic implant into your body, transfers your own fat cells into the area of your choice, or in this case, your breasts. This procedure involves undergoing liposuction to a part of the body with unwanted fat, which is then prepared and arranged to be introduced back into your body through your breasts. Often, it will help body contouring with more natural looking results. Two in one anyone?
If you’re not sure whether breast surgery is right for you, or want to learn more, feel free to give us a call to talk through any questions you may have. Remember – your body is your choice, and whilst nobody can achieve perfection, feeling confident in your own skin is so important for you and your physical and mental health.
