Anita East launches her book Beautiful Unique Faces : a guide to recognising and embracing your unique beauty
On the 1 SEPTEMBER, 2020: Anita East, one of Australia’s top Cosmetic Nurse Practitioners will launch her book Beautiful Unique Faces – an inspirational guide for all women on practical ways to recognise their own Unique Beauty and smash the barriers to self-love and acceptance.
It’s no secret that Australian’s love a cosmetic tweak. According to the Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA), Aussie’s spend in excess of $1 billion on cosmetic treatments each year, that’s 40 percent more (per capita) than the United States.
As an in-demand Cosmetic Nurse Practitioner, Anita has built her career on our obsession with beauty, however she says women aren’t looking at beauty through their own, unique lens.
“While Botox and injectables aren’t new, their availability, price point and the relentlessness of Instagram has given women across the world
a skewed idea of what’s both aspirational and attainable in facial beauty,” she explains.
“When before and after photos are posted online it creates a wave of aspiration, where friends and followers will say, ‘Oh, I want those lips too’, but the truth is one size doesn’t fit all. Out of 100 people, having your lips done might only suit three or four people,” says Anita.
And while cosmetic treatments are more accessible than ever, that accessibility doesn’t come with a training manual. That’s why Anita, an advocate for natural and subtle cosmetic enhancement, has written Beautiful Unique Faces, a guide to help women identify their Unique Facial Features and make decisions from a place of empowerment.
HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR UNIQUE FACIAL FEATURE
According to Anita, discovering and understanding your Unique Facial Feature is by far the most positive influence any woman can have on identifying and revelling in her Unique Beauty.
“We are all born with one Unique Facial Feature.
It might be our smile, our eyes, our cheeks, our chin, our jaw, our profile, our lips or even our eyebrows but realistically we only have one. It might be a feature we’ve completely forgotten about, or even something that people used to comment on as a child. I explain how to reconnect with what that feature is in the book, so that it becomes the focus,” she explains.
“Once you’re guided by your own Unique Facial Feature you can appreciate what someone else (including influencers, friends and celebrities) might be doing to their faces, but safe in the knowledge of your own Unique Beauty,” Anita says.
ANITA’S TOP THREE TIPS TO HELP RECOGNISE AND EMBRACE YOUR UNIQUE BEAUTY:
- LEARN MY ‘INNER POWER PRACTICE’ –
a specific and simple routine that I designed to help myself with my own self-love. My ‘Inner Power Practice’ is what keeps me from getting sucked into the rabbit hole of comparison and self-loathing that, like all women at times, threatens to consume me. The great thing about the ‘Inner Power Practice’ is that once you know it, you can do it anywhere and at any time and no one will ever know. - PAUSE SOCIAL MEDIA – When you’re feeling overwhelmed by comparing yourself to others and you get that ‘icky’ feeling in your heart, turn off social media and look outside at the real world. Find a window and simply look outside or better still, get outside.
- UNFOLLOW – If you’ve taken a break from Social Media but still feeling unworthy, unfollow anyone who regularly makes you feel this way. Find people who make you feel joy in your heart. Be with them, call them or follow them instead. Observe the change that replacing this person in your life, makes on your self-love and self-worth.
